BMW Team Schnitzer is competing in the 2010 Le Mans Series with a BMW M3 GT2.
BMW works drivers Jörg Müller and Dirk Werner will be battling for points and victories in the LM GT2 category in Le Castellet, Spa-Francorchamps, Portimão, Budapest and Silverstone.
BMW has already appeared in the European equivalent of the ALMS in the past. As preparation for the 2001 season in North America, Team BMW Motorsport competed in two races in the predecessor to today’s Le Mans Series in order to gain experience. While a double retirement in Donington was far from satisfactory, the race in Jarama ran to plan: BMW claimed a one-two in the GT2 class with Fredrik Ekblom/Dirk Müller and J.J. Lehto/Jörg Müller. This was the first time the two pairs of drivers had raced the BMW M3 GTR in Europe.
As at the Le Mans 24 Hours, LMS also consists of various different classes – LM P1, LM P2, LM GT1 and LM GT2 – all competing in the same race.
